IS THERE NO JUSTICE?

The baseball playoffs are over for the New York Yankees. But they did the best they could. Apparently they didn’t play like tigers, but the Tigers did! You might even say they were a few bucks short of the championship. This means they have to make room on the couch with the Mets and Red Sox to watch the rest of the playoffs.

As my good buddy Jim said about this year as the Yanks made the playoffs: “Na na na na nah,” or something like that.

Rooting for the Yankees is like buying U.S. Government notes, they are safe, secure, and for the most part honored everywhere. They were General Motors team once, when they were the talk of the town.

I like my losers the Mets, and I like the Red Sox, the other anti-Yankee team. Both teams fans have passion in the stands, we watch our teams lose, and we can relate to the disappointment that we all share.

But as a Yankee fan, you have fashion, the logo goes anywhere on any article of clothing. You don’t need to watch the game, because you know the outcome before the first pitch is thrown in anger. You get to pay the most outrageous prices for seats in the stadium, because the salaries are so high, and a hot dog needs a down payment. Of all the money, a good deal goes to A-Rod, so he can disappear in the playoffs. (Got an early seat on the couch).

Don’t despair Yankee fans, this means Michele (with one L), my good buddy Jimmy Pants (read his blog: http://jpantaleno.blogspot.com/) along with Mike from Hull Street who was born in the cradle of anti-Yankeeism, there is still more money in the coffers, and they will probably rise the price of a ticket some more to pay for the missing link to get them to the World Series.

On thing about the Mets, we don’t get disappointed, we are already disappointed, and it is the first week of April. We always look toward next year, because this year is hopeless. But I love the underdog, every once in a while they surprise me, and that makes my day.

27 World Series Joe, that's twenty-seven! The next closest is St. Louis with 10. Everybody spends money, but they don't get anywhere near the Yankees for results. Definitely time to dump A-Rod though.
