THERE'S A JOB OUT THERE

There's a job out there that is designed to annoy me. Yes, somewhere out there a Human Resource head put in a qualification that the applicant must have, it is a talent shall we say.

On the CBS news programs, the Weatherman is not a job for everyone, no, they applicant must be able or express the natural talent of annoying me. I am honored that a major network like CBS would think enough about me to annoy me.

There are two individuals in particular who have this touch, One in the morning and one in the evening, both local weather people.

The morning guy seems to think he is needed in my life, he does little body movements like he is a special person, shaking his head like a belly dancer, thinking he is the cutest thing since baby's first poop. I was watching the news the other morning when the weather came on. I watch the news until the paper comes and then I read all the old news, rather than the regurgitated versions from the TV.

It does seem to me that the weathermen are taking over the newscasts. TLW (The Little Woman) mentioned it out loud when John Elliot appeared more than once.

"The show seems to center around him." Said TLW.

"You know, I think the same thing! And he tends to annoy me too. Seems like he is putting on a show for people." I sometimes think that these weathermen do these little routines to be discovered and have a show of their own.

But you have to hand it to the weathermen on the TV! Boy, do they get all excited. You'd think we are bombed again at Pearl Harbor. Their hands become in perpetual motion, the voice rising in excitement as they now have a show for you. They will attempt to scare the Hell out of you, tell you things that are horrible and that the world will end at once-News at 11:00 pm!

Not only do they state the obvious, they state it over and over again, with these foreboding graphics hinting at our doom. The red crawl across the bottom of the TV screen would add to the excitement and feel that the world has truly ended or will soon, news at 11:00 pm.

Network TV News is nothing but sensationalism and hyperbole. It tries to draw you into listening, it makes up outlandish statements to entice you, and it is just is downright stupid,

FURINSTANCE:

The CBS Evening News made a statement that went something like this:

"UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES DROP, AND WHY THAT MAY NOT BE SUCH A GOOD THING!"

Now I ask you, why is it not such a good thing? Some guy or gal is going back to work to feed his/her family, not such a good thing? Some single Mom who is struggling to make ends meet gets a job she desperately needs, and it is not maybe such a good thing!

Why is the person who thought up this story still working? Shouldn't HE or SHE be on the unemployment lines instead?

There was no story to speak of, it was a stupid come-on that the network devices to make people think they are crazy, but CBS News will make them better with their reasoning. So, folks, don't go away. We have other come-ons too, like how a cancer free body may not be such a great thing or quit smoking may not be so healthy after all.

The networks stopped reporting the news long ago, in their quest to achieve network dominance. They resort to dumb weathermen that think their job is to entertain me or scare me to death with impending doom forecasts.

"THIS IS A WEATHER ALERT FROM THE CBS NEWSROOM: SPRINKLES ARE PREDICTED FOR PARTS OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NASSAU, AND RICHMOND VIRGINIA… STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER DETAILS."

And so, everyone should keep their TV tuned to CBS News. Be it NBC, ABC or CBS, it is all the same.

Give me some damned news I can use, and stop the hype already!
