FRUSTRATED JUSTICE

Way back in the 90’s, when O.J. Simpson stood trial for the murder of his wife Nicole and her boyfriend Ronald Goldman, Simpson was acquitted of murder by the fact that the LA Police were incapable of presenting a case and their ineptitude made all the difference in whether Simpson was allowed to go free or not. Poor management of the facts and poor presentation of the truth were key factors in Simpson winning that case, since Justice was not served, it was manhandled. The LA Police on October 3, 1995 allowed OJ to walk free, and continue their ineptitude: the real legacy of the LA Police Department.

Before the Simpson case, there was another case of manhandled justice in a book about the murder of Adam Walsh, penned by a gentleman named Willis Morgan scheduled to be released in July of this year. The book: FRUSTRATED WITNESS tells of eye witnessed accounts of events that the Hollywood Florida Police failed to or refused to take into account in trying to solve this crime. A quote from the books website goes:

“As much as this book is a case for Jeffrey Dahmer being Adam Walsh’s murderer, it is equally a study of how the Hollywood, FL detectives conducted the homicide investigation, becoming the greatest ally and defender of America’s most notorious serial killer. "I have a problem with facts that don’t fit, with witnesses not called or used, with bungled investigations, and with cover-ups after the fact," the author writes. The author presents many, many witnesses who know they saw Dahmer. Packed with charts, diagrams, photos, and letters, this is the most extensive collection of records to date of the Adam Walsh case.”

The author has spent over 30 years putting this book together and over ten years in writing and investigations. Appearing on countless TV shows and in numerous print publications describing what he saw, 2010 found the author filing a lawsuit against the HPD, State Attorney's Office, and one of the detectives involved in the Adam Walsh case.

Mr. Morgan’s case against the HPD is really an expose’ of the ineptitude of the police in this case, and: “I have a problem with facts that don’t fit, with witnesses not called or used, with bungled investigations, and with cover-ups after the fact," Mr. Morgan writes. In spite of the witnesses, charts and evidence to prove a case that Dahmer did it, the police have turned on a deaf ear and blind eye with a muted tongue!

WHO’S DIS?

-->
I'm not even sure who this is
Every morning I come down from my shower, dressed and ready to roll. I have a cup of coffee that I enjoy and there sits TLW (The Little Woman) watching the morning news, and this is a daily ritual including weekends and holidays.

On the TV every morning is the weatherman, John Elliot, who annoys me to no end. I think the guy thinks the show is about him. But in spite of my annoyance, he will show pictures of celebrities who have birthdays on that particular day.

Usually about 3 or 4 people are shown with their name and age and he mentions them and life goes on. Except for me, that is. If this person is younger than 45, chances are I don’t know who the heck they are, where they came from, or if they just snuck their picture in the lineup for a thrill.

Where have I been? These are supposed to be celebrities, famous people, and I have never heard of them! It reminds me a lot of when you went to school, got sick and stayed home for a day or two, returned and the teacher starts the class where they left off, but you are lost.

Then there is Facebook. The younger crowd has their own dialect, say things I have no idea what they mean, and it seems all so now while I seem all so then! This is not good. I read the newspapers every morning, I read books and am part of the social media, it is not like I am not informed. WHO THE HECK ARE THESE PEOPLE AND WHAT DO THEY MEAN???

I decided not to get too upset about it, no, I will continue to go my blissful way, unencumbered by extra names and things I probably don’t care about anymore anyway. Let’s face it, nothing is so important that I would want to mention it while trying to get it off the tip of my tongue! God knows I do enough of it already with the people I do know.

Hey, I'm old, leave me alone.

TAMMY

Spent my birthday in part at the movies. The movie, if you want to call it that was ‘TAMMY’, and here’s what I got.

The critics panned the movie, I would can the movie and leave it at the curb.  The only thing funny about this film was that it got to the big screen. What astonished me were the big names in the disaster such as: Dan Aykroyd, Kathy Bates and Susan Sarandon!

Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her jalopy of a car, gotten fired from her mundane job at a franchise burger joint, and when she goes home for some comfort finds her husband getting comfortable with one of the neighbors. This all happens in the first few minutes of the show, from there on in it goes downhill, faster than a truck loaded with my lunch and no brakes!

She has given up on her career?
There are some things you should never do: one of them is watch this movie. The dialogue was meaningless, pointless, and humdrum as was the plot as it went along. The far-fetched antics of both Grandma (Susan Sarandon) and Tammy as they travel was childish and simply had no real basis to make the movie funny, just stupid. The only movie that might be worst was ‘Hey Dude, Where’s My Car?’ It was the worst display of sophomoric humor that I have ever witnessed in real life, let alone the movie screen. The good thing about the movie is that you could choose to go to the toilet at any time and still not miss anything.

GO AWAY!
My suggestion is to heed my cry. Save hard earned money and go to the bathroom instead. You can always say you saw the movie and get away with it, since there was nothing to see, no one would want to relive the nonsense and even if someone does talk about it, it would be to say it sucks.

Thank you
The DelBloggolo movie critic.
I rate this movie: GMMMB (Give Me My Money Back.)

MAKING THE DEAN’S LIST

The Watergate Complex
During the height of the Watergate scandal, the Spiro Agnew crush and the making of so many stars in congress the Congressional probe about President Nixon actually touched me in a peculiar way. The national media was abuzz about the Watergate scandal, the constant reports and the all day coverage of events as they unfolded during the hearings on TV. Everyday was a new revelation, everyday brought something new to the table to be made aware to the general public.

The chairman of the company was an influential man, coming from the field of journalism, working for a major media company at one time, and that influence ranged all the way over to politics, and the attention of Richard Milhous Nixon. The Chairman was a somewhat wealthy man and made contributions to the Democratic Party. During this time of political infighting and the unhinging of the Presidency under Nixon, it was not a good thing to do as far as Republicans were concerned. My politics were of a conservative bent in those days, without an affiliation to any party, and I still feel that way.

the 'Dean'
Arriving at my office one morning, I notice as I pass the desks of the support staff, little buttons on each desk. I don’t think much of it since there was always a promotional item hanging around for one client or another. When I got into my office, there on my desk was this same button. It was about 2 ½ inches across and had a hangman’s noose on it, Across the button in big letters was the words: “I’M ON THE DEAN’S LIST”!

Finding it on my desk gave me the creeps. Why? Because I knew what it meant, and I was guilty by association, and I didn’t like the whole idea for myself. I had a little kid at home and just married and didn’t want anything to do with this that might touch even so slightly on my wife’s reputation.

There seemed to be a certain pride among the office personnel how we were all on the “Dean’s List’. I was confused and wondered why. I hate politics, always have and hate politicians in particular, so this whole idea was abhorrent to me. Then I figured it out, my boss was on the Dean’s List, not the staff or anyone else! I was starting to get a little giddy, life away from Bellport, NY was getting complicated!

I’D LIKE TO THANK ALL THE LITTLE PEOPLE WHO MAKE ME LOOK TALLER.

-->
Well, I guess by now you have heard either through Facebook, TV or the press, that The Big Bang Theory has won another People’s Choice Award. Unless you live under a rock and still know me, you know #1 Son Anthony is one of the many talented writers and producers on that show.

To me the award is a great thing, but what is greater is that he is working on that show. Just think about it, here is a kid who always gets adopted for one reason or another by others. When I was working at Publishers Clearing House, I got him to work for the company. The day before he started I was known as Joe Del Bloggolo, senior art supervisor, the day after, as Anthony’s father. There’s a lesson in that boys and girls, stay away from that kid. Even my old boss, Tom Owens, who looks like St. Paul, started calling him: “Our son.”

Back row, third from your right
Being I was sick the night of the awards, I fell asleep early and when I woke up it was the next morning. Coming downstairs I am greeted by TLW (The Little Woman) who says: while holding the remote control: “Are you ready?” She clicks on the remote and on comes the people’s Choice Awards and: “The People’s Choice Award for best comedy goes to… Joe Del Bloggolo’s son.”

Well, maybe it didn’t go quite like that but close. Accepting on my behalf was #1 Son: all spiffy and dressed up just like that time in Nursery School, when the whole class did a hop like a bunny dance.

It is very hard for me to keep this quiet, the fact that he works on the Big Bang Theory, so please forgive me if I get too obnoxious, rather than my standard obnoxicity. (I made up that last word)

LES MISERABLES

Somewhere in Port Jefferson New York, sits a theater that has a production going that would compete with anything Broadway has to offer! The Theater is Theatre Three and the production is Les Misérables.

Victor Hugo
As you might know, Les Misérables is a historical novel by Victor Hugo, considered the greatest novel of the 19th Century, and has been converted to the stage and even the screen, countless times. It is a masterpiece about the French Revolution masterfully written in a historical context.

Theatre Three has always come through in the past with some great productions. There was Singing in the Rain and Scrooge and Spelling Bee and now, the best thing they have ever done, Les Misérables!

Theatre Three, 412 Main Street, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 631-928-9100.

“Do you hear the people sing?” THEATRE THREE opens its 44th season with the most popular musical in the world. Epic and uplifting, here is the story of Jean Valjean, unjustly imprisoned for nineteen years, and his journey to a new life. Featuring a powerhouse score—“One Day More,” “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” “On My Own,” and “I Dreamed a Dream” —LES MISÉRABLES is an inspiring affirmation of the human spirit. THEATRE THREE’s Steve McCoy stars as Valjean, LES MISÉRABLES promises to be one of the most memorable theatre events of the year.
From Theatre Three’s website

The cast was phenomenal, the acting, the singing and the direction, costuming everything, just incredible. This production should be called Les Incredibles!

The hero, Jean Valjean is played by Steve McCoy, who is indeed the real McCoy, his rich Baritone voice his ability to age and convincingly grow the part, his ability to become transformed a gain the sympathy of the audience was just perfect.
Original Illustration

But let’s not forget Javert, played by Ed Brennan, the villain and antagonist of Valjean, maintains his symbolic representation of the oppression that weights down the poor peasants of mid-1800 France. He too, takes you to new heights with his voice, and his command of the role of Javert.

I could go on and on about this production, and it would all be good, like the youngsters such as young Cosette, played by both Sophia Guarnaschelli and Karina Vartanian, the cast too large to mention yet too good not to. They were all great in their roles.

The illustration you see is of Cosette and is a portrait by Emile Bayard, from the original edition of Les Misérables (1862). It has become the icon of the play and novel, and has endured as such since it was first drawn for the original novel.

My suggestion to you, go see it before it is gone! Don’t walk, run.

IF I MAY…

-->
Say a few words about Facebook.

I’m beginning to like the idea of Facebook, I think there is a good side of it if you use it wisely. For instance my old classmate Tony Lanzetta has posted numerous posting of missing children. I don’t know if any of it works, but I share it because I think it is important to try to save our children from predators. The audience you reach must be vast enough that someone will see a posting that will lead to saving a young innocent life.  Good for you Tony, and thanks, it is a worth-while posting all the time.

There are some days when I wish there was no Facebook, when people post their religious beliefs and ask everyone to repost or ‘like’. That turns me off, and
makes me wonder why they really need to do that. If Jesus is your savior, does that mean that the Jewish population won’t be saved? How harsh is that?

It is a great forum to express oneself on political ideologies and to create great discourse. It gives you the other side of the coin, but not always rationally like you would hope. We are too quick to fault Obama, the Bush administration and or Liberals and Conservatives. It troubles me when I see the glorification of the American military power: since it is so vast and strong it only creates resentment and a false sense of righteousness and a silly sense of bravado, almost childlike to the rest of the world. Showing pictures of aircraft carriers or fighter planes gets embarrassing and stale. But if you served in the service, that is something to be proud of showing that off is good. It is nice to honor a man or woman who serves his or her country, to be proud of a child or grandchild who does, and so it is to brag about a child or grandchild.

A graduation being noted, an achievement being recognized, are all good things and rightfully so for a parent or grandparent on Facebook. Those cute pictures of children and grandchildren only help but beautify the Internet, and make us forget about the ugliness that is out there in the world.

To make someone smile, to tell a joke or two is good for the soul, both the tellers and the readers, it is something fun and neat.

The best thing by far is finding old friends from childhood or old work places of long ago, makes for some great discoveries and happy moments. And the helpful hints, the ways to get ride of fruit flies or crud, the pictures of recipes that sound enticing and you can’t wait to try!

And so like millions everywhere I am becoming a little addictive to Facebook. So what?

Some of the people she bosses at home

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY VERY FIRST NIECE, LAURIE ANN O’HARA!

I’m very proud of her because she has just recently received a promotion in the South Country School District as a department head! Yup, another bossy lady I know!

I’M SINGING IN THE RAIN!

-->

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN
by Gene Kelly
Don Lockwood:
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo...

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin',
Singin' in the rain

Dancin' in the rain
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
I'm happy again!
I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain!

I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain...

Recently, I was invited to a production at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts of Singing in the Rain, the musical that features a famous scene where the lead dances in the rain with an umbrella, and the tune stays with you in your head, playing every 20 minutes as if on a loop.

This is the second time I have enjoyed watching this musical, the first time being in a local theater in Port Jefferson, I love the show.  In both shows, the use of water raining down on the set and dancer, not unlike the movie occurred. That makes show productions so worthwhile!

The actors, all unknown were marvelous and professional, and should reach the big lights some day.

I have always loved Broadway, seeing many more productions in my retirement than ever before. The theater is a magical place, transforming my mind, and griping my attention like nothing else ever has.

One thing that makes me happy is watching the young talent showcasing their wares. As you know, getting anywhere on Broadway is a tough thing to do, even with talent. It takes hard, hard work, and lots of critiquing to perfect this kind of trade and art form. Young people dedicated that make a smash with an audience is like seeing a new born child, it is special.

Although it wasn’t possible to match the performance of Gene Kelly and the great caste he had which included Donald O’Connor, Doris Day and Rita Moreno, the two performances I witnessed on stage were credible, and well worth the time to watch.

A ‘Happy Birthday’ to special people, one a gentleman through and through in my brother-in-law Don Uyeno, who looks good for 42, and a cousin Christina Corace:
WHO IS CAUSING ALL THE YOUNG MEN IN VIRGINIA BEACH TO CRY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS!

FREE TO BE

“My God. People haven't fought so hard to deny so many others of basic rights since the days of racial segregation. Those who are still alive and at one point fought against basic rights for blacks probably aren't proud of their former position. Quite honestly, they would probably now admit being on the wrong side of history. I firmly believe that those who are so adamant on preventing gays from getting married will some day realize that they too were on the wrong side of history. My wife and I got married before gay marriage was legalized in the state of Connecticut. Now it's legal. What has changed since? Nothing. My love for her and our marriage hasn't been negatively impacted in the slightest. My marriage is no less sacred or important as it was prior to the legalization of gay marriage in Connecticut. It doesn't impact my ability to keep a job, have a family, love others or enjoy my freedoms. It's enough already folks. It's 2013, not 1954.”
                                                                                                Marc Dzicek
                                                                                                DelBloggolo Nephew

My nephew Marc Dzicek, a teacher and molder of young minds wrote the above. It is when I read things like the above that I feel better about what the world will come to. He posted it recently on FACEBOOK, and it is timely, relevant and most importantly very true!

I too look at marriage as a union of two people, two people who do not need the approval of anyone else to sanction that love. If it is between a man and woman, we don’t notice, nor do we care. But as soon as we see a difference, we become excited, afraid and traumatized that a same sex marriage has occurred.

I would invite anyone who is opposed to same sex marriage, to carefully examine their life and test it against their fear. What has really changed and how has it impacted your life? Do you still go to your church, a church that preaches tolerance, do you still come home to the same people, or is anyone corrupted because of same-sex marriage? DID YOU ASK ANYONE FOR PERMISSION TO MARRY THAT PERSON, AND WOULD IT HAVE MATTERED?

Thank God for the younger generation, they are not allowing old prejudices to overcome their lives, they are starting to sort out what is really important. The need to rush off, waving the flag has brought nothing but tragedy to this world and country and it is time to stop it. We spend billions on offensive and defensive weapons, and for what? Because we do, people will starve tonight and children will die from it.

I get sick to my stomach now, every time someone shows a piece of military hardware on Facebook, with a jingoistic attitude, like they are the champions of the free and the brave. When the hell will we grow up?

If you want to wave the flag, wave it over a shipment of medicine to Africa, with a slogan stenciled on it: ‘FROM THE USA, PAID FOR WITH PENTEGON DOLLARS!”

THE REALITY SUCKS, IS THERE NO END?

Keeping it real folks is important, but there is no reality in these reality shows!

Recently over breakfast at our favorite diner, the subject turned to the Kardashians, and the unfortunate overabundance of this family. TLW (The Little Woman) agrees with me that maybe it is time for them to go away, but not just away: far away.

They the Kardashians have been on reality shows: have clothing lines and I think even a perfume named after them. They marry and we have to hear about it like it is some kind of good news. They pop a baby and there you go again, it is in the media.

The Jerry Seinfeld show had a running gag, the show was about nothing, and the Kardashians picked up on it, there lives are about nothing.

Me: “Sooo-all this fuss is about nothing, I mean what do they really bring to the table?”

TLW: “That’s right, nothing!”

I asked our waitress how many there are of the K’s and immediately she said ‘four’! Then she revised it to five, and as we spoke, six! Now the waitress is a nice lady, maybe in her late forties early fifties, but a major culprit it keeping the K’s alive. There are blogs, websites and what have you all about nothing.  If your life is going nowhere, or so you think, then hitch your star to a K and let it shine!

I blame this all on O.J. Simpson and his trial for murdering his wife and her lover. If Robert Kardashian wasn’t one of the trial lawyers for O.J., maybe none of this would be happening now. Then he had to go ahead and do a really annoying thing and die, causing the state of awareness about this family to rise considerably. Nice going Bobby K!

I’m thinking: TLW says they are making a lot of money on their lives, it is after all filler for some people who have no life, so why not take my life? I mean it is no great shakes, although I am married to a wonderful woman and have two very smart sons (Take after the mother), one more report about a Kardashian and I will take my life!
