FINDING GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE

The lawyer was cross-examining a witness.
“Isn’t it true, “he bellowed, “that you were given $500.00 to throw this case?”
The witness did not answer. Instead, he just stared out the window as though he hadn’t heard the question. The attorney repeated himself, again getting the same reaction - no response.
Finally, the judge spoke to the witness, “Please answer the question.”
“Oh,” said the startled witness, “I thought he was talking to you.”

If you go on the Internet or the TV and radio, all you hear is bad news, something is always happening to make the world miserable. Then recently I went on the Internet to be greeted with some happy news for a change:

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula said on Thursday a U.S. air strike had killed the senior figure who issued the group's claim of responsibility for the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris, according to a report.
The SITE Intelligence Group quoted al Qaeda as saying in an online video that AQAP ideologue Nasser bin Ali al-Ansi was killed with his eldest son and other fighters in Yemen.”

I say there is nothing like a goat-loving towel head terrorist dying, when he doesn’t expect it.  I’m a big fan of drone strikes, the more on those al Qaeda animals then the more we rid the world of the infestation and every time we kill them it is good news. The funny thing about those bums is that they look like they just washed their hair and yet they smell to high heaven.

Many of these low-life scumbags wonder why we are able to find them when the burrow into their holes, and I am here to reveal the truth as to why, they stink! Yes, the drones can smell, and especially anything left out in the sun for more than 24 hours. Here you always thought that the drone used a camera to find them. No, it is a stench sensor that does it, the camera is for the operators viewing pleasure, so he can paint on another pile of doo-doo on the side of the drone for another successful strike. Just like the pilots did in the Pacific war painting Japanese flags on their sides when they downed an enemy plane.

Just thought I’d get that off my chest.

ITS THAT TIME AGAIN!

Three sisters, ages 92, 94, and 96, live together. One night the 96-year-0ld draws a bath. She puts one foot in and pauses. "Was I getting in the tub or out?" she yells.

The 94-year-old hollers back, "I don't know, I'll come up to see." She starts up the stairs and stops. She shouts, "Was I going up or going down?"

The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea, listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful", and knocks on wood for good measure. Then she yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door."

Every four years there is a presidential election, and by the time it is over, I am so sick of hearing the politicians I could cry.

It seems that all of them promise change, big time change and will use the buzzwords to try to excite the voters. Of course there is never any change, except what they leave you in your pockets, or should I say pocket. “Let’s get big government off our backs, let’s give the government back to the people, and my favorite: “I will be fully exonerated in a court of law!”

Clinton
Recently, if you are alive, you heard that Hillary Clinton is running for President. She will run as a Liberal, Democrat and woman candidate to seek the high office. She will undertake the challenge and from what I hear will be a formidable candidate.

The GOP has been lining up candidates and there are a whole slew of them to challenge her and try to bring her down, of course.

Hillary’s candidacy has raised a question for me to ask of you as voters, do you vote strictly on party lines, or do you do it for the brand, Liberal or Conservative for instance. The reason this comes to mind is because Hillary is so polarizing that I’m positive most people will vote either against or for her, without examining her record and thinking about it. This not to say you should or shouldn’t vote for her. But let’s think a minute about what we do. We always complain as the electorate that it is the same old same old in Washington and our state capitol, where nothing ever changes. That is true, and we blame the politicians for that, yet who puts them there? It is us: the voters? We vote strict party line, or because someone is black or white, or liberal or conservative. But what would happen if we ever started to compare each candidate based on his/her stance on an Issue by issue basis?
Cruz

If I am dead set against Hillary, without any reason other than she is a woman, or liberal or Democrat, am I doing this country and myself a real service and abusing a sacred trust? What if there are more issues I am in agreement with than not with her, do I vote against my own self-interest? Believe me, I am not endorsing her, quite the contrary to that notion, but something lies under all my rhetoric.

Recently I spent a few days with my beautiful granddaughter, and it occurred to me that she has a future long after I’m gone, and the legacy I leave her has to be one of truth and care for her well-being. I can’t in all good conscience vote strictly on labels or likes and dislikes, I have tot think about her, how honest will my vote be?

She already has my vote
Because of the way we affiliate ourselves with political parties, blanket points of view and acceptance of a package of ideas without fully considering them, things like Unions have an uncontested hold on voters and sway things. Party affiliations make for power and strength in both numbers and money, money leads to more money and that of course leads to more power and eventually corruption and graph. This in the very end is where we eventually hear: “I believe I will be fully exonerated in a court of law!”

So what I am asking you to do to change the complexion of politics is to not recognize party lines and recognize the issues each on their own merits and then decide which candidate has the best to offer your future and that of your grandchildren.

This is an unpaid and unsolicited non-endorsement and I approve of it.

ARMISITC DAY

(351; 5 U. S. Code, Sec. 87a) was approved on May 13, 1938, making November 11 in each year a legal holiday, known as Armistice Day, or Veteran’s Day. This day was originally intended to honor veterans of World War I.

This is a day that honors those men and women who served in the big one, the original big one, World War I. In terms of conflict, its’ hard to say how horrific it was, especially when you compare it to the horrors of World War II. It was meant to honor those who were in an actual war, putting their lives on the line for the U.S.

Today you can still meet the brave men and women who fought in Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan. My grandparent’s generation, then the “Greatest Generation” my parents, are mostly gone by now, as we are left to record their actions in time of strife for the generations to come, who will little remember or care about this ancient history. We must always keep it alive in our textbooks.

But if you want to meet the brave and the wounded warriors, we need to just look beyond our self-induced comforts and go to the veteran’s hospitals, the rehab centers and the unemployment lines. Maybe take a look under some bridge and you may find one sleeping because of post war trauma and stress.

These men and women, who put their lives on the line, are being neglected by today’s America, but you know that and I know that and together we hope the problem will go away by itself. But it won’t, unless we do something about it, rise up as a nation and demand we take care of our Heroes, demand that they have decent medical and decent jobs and decent homes to care for their families. I’ll tell you why, because they will, in spite of our apathy take arms once again if we needed them.

Just imagine going to do a difficult job that requires courage and self-control, doing it successfully, even losing a limb or two, maybe your peace of mind you so took for granted and not get paid for it in a meaningful way. How do we look these brave people in the eye? How do we save them from the callousness of our selfish society? How do we become a band of brothers for their sake? We put in those bums in Washington to do our bidding: our veteran’s should be the priority that comes first!

I’ve had two high school reunions I helped organize, and one that I attended, and I see these guys from the Viet Nam era, thankfully alive and safe, and I wish I could have done more on my part. I was kept out because of a hearing loss in both ears, and I know I owe them more than gratitude, I owe them more than just talk and typed words, both are cheap.

There is nothing more I wish to say today, except once again,

THANK YOU to our war veterans. I will pray for those who have fallen, and those who were permanently injured both physically and mentally I say: You don’t deserve what has happened to you, you do deserve all the support without question and no need to qualify it. We should start looking at the old men we send to Congress to fight wars with young people’s lives and thinking about throwing out the bunch once and for all if they can’t or won’t comply with what they owe you.

SO TODAY, AT 11:00 A.M., when the original armistice was signed ending World War I, take a that moment and just remember them all.

There will be no other parts to this posting today in honor of the fallen and wounded Veteran's, see you tomorrow.

MAKING THE DEAN’S LIST

The Watergate Complex
During the height of the Watergate scandal, the Spiro Agnew crush and the making of so many stars in congress the Congressional probe about President Nixon actually touched me in a peculiar way. The national media was abuzz about the Watergate scandal, the constant reports and the all day coverage of events as they unfolded during the hearings on TV. Everyday was a new revelation, everyday brought something new to the table to be made aware to the general public.

The chairman of the company was an influential man, coming from the field of journalism, working for a major media company at one time, and that influence ranged all the way over to politics, and the attention of Richard Milhous Nixon. The Chairman was a somewhat wealthy man and made contributions to the Democratic Party. During this time of political infighting and the unhinging of the Presidency under Nixon, it was not a good thing to do as far as Republicans were concerned. My politics were of a conservative bent in those days, without an affiliation to any party, and I still feel that way.

the 'Dean'
Arriving at my office one morning, I notice as I pass the desks of the support staff, little buttons on each desk. I don’t think much of it since there was always a promotional item hanging around for one client or another. When I got into my office, there on my desk was this same button. It was about 2 ½ inches across and had a hangman’s noose on it, Across the button in big letters was the words: “I’M ON THE DEAN’S LIST”!

Finding it on my desk gave me the creeps. Why? Because I knew what it meant, and I was guilty by association, and I didn’t like the whole idea for myself. I had a little kid at home and just married and didn’t want anything to do with this that might touch even so slightly on my wife’s reputation.

There seemed to be a certain pride among the office personnel how we were all on the “Dean’s List’. I was confused and wondered why. I hate politics, always have and hate politicians in particular, so this whole idea was abhorrent to me. Then I figured it out, my boss was on the Dean’s List, not the staff or anyone else! I was starting to get a little giddy, life away from Bellport, NY was getting complicated!

I GET POLITICAL

One of the real world things I had to deal with as a young advertising executive was politics. There were people that ran for city council, there were organizations looking to reach the masses, there were publications that needed to survive and circulate. They were some of the types of accounts that were assigned to me. I on the other hand didn’t care much for them.

He said he  was not a crook
One day Larry Chait himself comes into my office, his long cigar punctuating his large massive frame, looking across the desk says to me that he needed a visual statement for a left wing magazine, but it had to leave people wondering. I was being asked to design a cover for this magazine’s newsstand editions, and have it ready by late afternoon to discuss. Washington D.C. was in turmoil at the time, and Richard Nixon was the cause. Scandal was about to break in Washington D.C. A young writer was assigned the job initially, but didn’t have the fire to ignite what Larry wanted, and time was running out. Could I come up with something? I said I could and when Larry left my office I said to myself: “WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SAY?”

Getting hold of the writer I asked him what he had already, did a quick read and then it just fell into place. The whole concept of coming up with something that would fly according to the criterion stated by Larry was being met. Scandal was about to break in Washington D.C. and I had a visual, that needed very little else.

This is NOT the actual art work
Grabbing my coat I ran down to the NY Public Library and borrowed a black and white photo of the Capital building. Rushing back to my office the cab leaves me off a block away, and I run the rest of the way. I order a rush Photostat of the picture and create the cover, the dome, being lifted off the building with some smoke coming out. It was perfect, the boss was happy but more importantly the client loved it.

Tomorrow: WE MAKE THE DEAN’S LIST

MONICA LEWINSKY

Ah, if we didn’t have enough scandal in today’s political arena, we now need to drag it out of the old pile in the back of the closet. That household name of propriety and decorum in all things presidential, Monica Lewinsky is back!

Actually I grew attached to Bubba when his troubles began under his Presidential desk so many years ago, and he made a very important contribution to presidential lore. We as the American public are now more vigilant when it comes to presidential impropriety, and thanks to Bubba, we have a benchmark.

First Lady Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno were having one of those girl-to-girl talks, and Hillary says to Janet, "You're lucky that you don't have to put up with men having sex with you. I have to put up with Bill, and there is no telling where he last had his pecker."
Janet responded, "Just because I am esthetically challenged (that's "politically correct" for ugly) doesn't mean I don't have to fight off unwelcome sexual advances."
Hillary asks, "Well, how do you deal with the problem?"
Janet, "Whenever I feel that a guy is getting ready to make a pass at me, I muster all my might and squeeze out the loudest, nastiest fart that I can."
That night, Bill was already in bed with the lights out when Hillary slips into bed. She could hear him start to stir, and knew that he would be wanting some action. She had been saving her farts all day, and was ready for him.
She tenses up her butt cheeks and forces out the most disgusting sounding fart you could imagine.
Bill rolls over and says, "Janet, is that you?"

President Kennedy probably set the record for infidelity wrapped in stars and stripes, but in those days the press didn’t give much to the public. He may have set the standards that Bubba tried to achieve. What Bubba couldn’t catch up with in women, he set in burgers, and so it went. Don’t forget: JFK had so many he needed his brother Bobby to help manage the flow of satisfaction. Pretty disgusting.

Of course there was FDR, and his extracurricular activities although limited to a wheel chair, did manage a very tidy affair, even having Eleanor’s cooperation, since she had a little something on the side too.

Who will ever forget LBJ, and the ‘Great Society’, pride in his prowess to conquer and claim in the name of the U.S. Senate and America!

Since today they are all crooks, the only way one hopes to get ride of a President is if he has an affair, and has it all tapped. Investigators would want to see some er… ‘hard’ evidence to convict and impeach him. They had Bubba on the ropes but couldn’t bring it home with: just a seamen stained polka dot blue dress!

But I’m not here to disparage past presidents, no I am hear to welcome back the scandals, which make for great reading with no surprises.

AN INTERESTING BIT OF FACT

Each year when Parliament opens it session for the first time, an interesting and peculiar exchange occurs.

The King or Queen of England, whoever is the reigning monarch goes to Westminster and addresses Parliament for the first day, a tradition that goes back hundreds of years and plays out faithfully.

With this tradition that seems somewhat civil and almost democratic in nature, there is a wrinkle that no one really knows about. It seems that the Palace and Parliament didn’t always get along well together. Seeping under the surface is some distrust and suspicion that made for some odd and awkward accommodation.

Since the Palace feared for the safety of the Queen or King, Parliament would have to send a member to the palace to wait for the monarch to safely return to the palace after the opening speech! Yes, a hostage! Parliament had to send a hostage to the palace until the Queen or King returned!

That would be like sending John McCain to the White House while the President gives his State of the Union Speech!

Civilized England, long live the Queen!

HEALTH CARE AND ME

-->
I been reading all about the Obama Care act that was passed by congress, and I have some questions.

If I don’t have to give up my present plan, then why are we doing this? I think they should have Obama Car Care insurance instead. This would be a plan that would engulf everyone who owns a car and doesn’t have time to wash it, doesn’t care if it is washed, or just never noticed the car was dirty to begin with.

As I mentioned before, TLW (The Little Woman) pointed out that my car needed washing, and that would mean she was telling me to wash it. My response was reasonable, timely and to the point without too much elaboration: NO!

Look, I leave that thing out in the rain, because of all the junk in our garage. My feeling is the car is getting cleaned about every 6 to 8 days when it rains, so why spend the money to go to a car wash? Once you get there, you get choices, all kinds of options that confuse, and then I overpay for something I didn’t even want in the first place. There is also the danger of those little side racks that have all kinds of cutesy devices for your car that I swear I can’t live without, and how I ever did up to this point is beyond me.

Just think, Obama Car Care, the answer to your problems. Say you go to a parking garage and hand over the keys to the attendant, who goes ahead and parks your car, which happens to be brown according to the registration. You come back after a dinner and a Broadway play say, and ask for your car, the attendant asks what the color is and you say brown; he goes and comes back empty handed.

Al's Web Masters and Car Wash could tie it all together!
“Hey, where’s my car?” you ask, and he says there is only one car left and it is grey! When you describe the make and model, he realizes it is brown but needs a washing. (This DID happen to me once!) With Obama Car Care, you can automatically get it washed with a very low deductible, and you don’t have to rid yourself of your present car wash where you live!

I know it is complicated, but you would go on the Obama Car Care website that would give you all the options you could select from drop down menus, including the little chotchkies on the side racks! (Boy, the more I write about this, the more I like it!) Of course all this would take a few months to iron out all the little things, but once up, the Republicans will be very sad they didn’t think of it. The government could hire Al’s Websites and Car Wash as the web master to build it.

I’m sure this great idea has been tried before, probably in Massachusetts, when Romney was the governor.

IF WE DON’T VOTE, WILL THEY GO AWAY?

-->
God how I hate this time of year! It seems that the mail gets cluttered and the airwaves are even worse, listen to the garbage all the politicians are putting out. I once wanted to go into politics, way back when I was in high school. JFK was the president, riding on a youth movement that had a lot of promise and hope. He made promises that never really materialized, but because he chang4ed the landscape of politics by having good looks and youth. Out went the foggy bottomed pols such as Adlai Stevenson and Ike, and in came this kid, the first Catholic yet, who would inspire with words and grip the imagination of the youth of this country. And along with it came negative campaigning!

Prior to this year’s election, I got mail telling me about two candidates running for the same seat in the local government, one was going back to the old ways (what is that?) and one was stealing money (how much and why didn’t you speak out sooner?)

I get ads from the politicians running in New Jersey on TV, why?

The whole business is starting to get to me. Obama is in deep with Obama Care, the Republican House members have almost destroyed this country and stock market, it seems that they can’t wait to find new ways to disagree, make a mess and still look self-righteous.

We have Hillary and Pelosi, two names that polarize even the Democrats, John Boehner has endeared himself to no one, especially with that cold stare, and blank expression! IS THIS THE BEST WE CAN DO?????? I won’t even mention Richard Nixon.

I’m beginning to see where although I can agree with the Occupiers movement to some extent, it too is becoming as bad as those they protest against, with the movement all but dead, yet having left a lot of scars for today’s youth, and movements in general when it comes to the public.

So all that voting has gotten us is these morons, people who side with one or the other without thinking for themselves, embracing philosophies in total, rather than thinking things through, more taxes, more government, and more jury duty.

AM I WRONG?

OK, they spend a fortune to get elected, we send them to Congress, and they shut down the government. Am I wrong but weren’t they supposed to run the government as representatives of the people?

I hate politics and Congress in particular, not found of the occupants of the White House, but don’t feel they are doing a terrible job. I decided long ago that branding myself a Conservative or Liberal will only trap me into other’s beliefs and then having to support some issues I don’t agree with.

The shutdown we experience every time there are disagreements near budget times is basically our own fault. We put these same jerks back into the same positions and after a while, they feel they know what is best for you and me, not what we want or need.

Holding services hostage is outrageous, taking away functions of government is criminal, withholding pay of government workers is sinful. Who is really doing this? Is it the Republicans or is it the Democrats. Depending on your alignment, you blame one or the other. I think that is wrong, it is our fault! We are holding the government hostage, we are all accepting of the idiocy of our elected representatives. These are the same people that insist of spending beyond the means of reality, that support guns in the face of senseless murder by crazies who get the guns, it is the fault of we the people.

What we need is a movement that demands better from those who run. They should be paid enough money to pay bills and raise a family and nothing more. Those that do get elected should be dedicated to service, accountable and their terms limited to one three year term only. Maybe with these kinds of rules, there won’t be any more politicians, and then we have what we have now, without the cost or aggravation that comes with these bastards.
Might be the man!

MORE DUMBER YET STILL

If you read the July 3rd Blogue I wrote: ‘BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, IT’S STUPID!’ then you are about to read the sequel, ‘BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, IT’S STUPID! Part 2.

Showing off his wiener

It takes audacity for a politician to run as it is on the promise of something he will not fulfill, and then seek re-election lying about his past. Then along comes Anthony Weiner and exposes himself for what he is, a pervert, and then seeks to run for office once again, taking on the high mantle of morality, the plea for forgiveness and the old coin: everybody should be forgiven. Fascinatingly people, stupid people buy into it, getting usually what they deserve.

But wait folks, we ain’t done yet! Nope, yet still another insect has come out of the woodwork, or from under a rock, I forget which, and is now saying the same thing: we ought to forgive and forget. This one has even fallen from on high, and of course I mean, the former governor of the great state of New York, Idiot Spitzer. Found in bed with a prostitute, dressed in his socks only, if he were the Attorney General he would have prosecuted someone for that, especially a politician! (The use of a prostitute, not the socks)
'Socks' Spitzer

So here we have a Weiner and a Spitzer, the Alpha and Omega of morality, who will mount platforms and preach to us how they will lead us to the promise land. No sense of shame, no sense of integrity and certainly, no sense of morality, with a whole slew of mindless, stupid people to support them.

Either I need to chill, change my sense of right and wrong, or we need some heads examined!

FREE TO BE

“My God. People haven't fought so hard to deny so many others of basic rights since the days of racial segregation. Those who are still alive and at one point fought against basic rights for blacks probably aren't proud of their former position. Quite honestly, they would probably now admit being on the wrong side of history. I firmly believe that those who are so adamant on preventing gays from getting married will some day realize that they too were on the wrong side of history. My wife and I got married before gay marriage was legalized in the state of Connecticut. Now it's legal. What has changed since? Nothing. My love for her and our marriage hasn't been negatively impacted in the slightest. My marriage is no less sacred or important as it was prior to the legalization of gay marriage in Connecticut. It doesn't impact my ability to keep a job, have a family, love others or enjoy my freedoms. It's enough already folks. It's 2013, not 1954.”
                                                                                                Marc Dzicek
                                                                                                DelBloggolo Nephew

My nephew Marc Dzicek, a teacher and molder of young minds wrote the above. It is when I read things like the above that I feel better about what the world will come to. He posted it recently on FACEBOOK, and it is timely, relevant and most importantly very true!

I too look at marriage as a union of two people, two people who do not need the approval of anyone else to sanction that love. If it is between a man and woman, we don’t notice, nor do we care. But as soon as we see a difference, we become excited, afraid and traumatized that a same sex marriage has occurred.

I would invite anyone who is opposed to same sex marriage, to carefully examine their life and test it against their fear. What has really changed and how has it impacted your life? Do you still go to your church, a church that preaches tolerance, do you still come home to the same people, or is anyone corrupted because of same-sex marriage? DID YOU ASK ANYONE FOR PERMISSION TO MARRY THAT PERSON, AND WOULD IT HAVE MATTERED?

Thank God for the younger generation, they are not allowing old prejudices to overcome their lives, they are starting to sort out what is really important. The need to rush off, waving the flag has brought nothing but tragedy to this world and country and it is time to stop it. We spend billions on offensive and defensive weapons, and for what? Because we do, people will starve tonight and children will die from it.

I get sick to my stomach now, every time someone shows a piece of military hardware on Facebook, with a jingoistic attitude, like they are the champions of the free and the brave. When the hell will we grow up?

If you want to wave the flag, wave it over a shipment of medicine to Africa, with a slogan stenciled on it: ‘FROM THE USA, PAID FOR WITH PENTEGON DOLLARS!”

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, IT’S STUPID!

Sometimes I can’t believe my eyes or ears. Sometimes I just lose faith in the general public. There are a lot of stupid ignorant people that just don’t care.

For instance: There seems to be a lot of teachers in the NYC school systems that are accused and found guilty of inappropriate behavior when it comes to students. They have been found guilty of it, have been written up because of it and the administration has tried to fire them.

The New York Post:

During just the past school year, 13 New York City teachers and other school employees were arrested for sexual misconduct. A couple of weeks ago, a Texas high school teacher was sentenced to five years in prison for having sex with five of her students in her home.
As Cole Porter put it, “Times have changed.” A century ago, a New York teacher could be dismissed for becoming pregnant by her husband.

The city Department of Education suggests that it’s the union contract at fault: The process for firing a teacher for sexual misconduct is too long and involved. It points to teachers collecting their salaries for years who haven’t been allowed to return to the classroom, as their cases drag on, as reason enough to eliminate the process.

Oh no, says the unions, and so these low life creeps are allowed to keep their jobs and their behavior goes rewarded.

If the above isn’t bad enough for you, you can then look to the Democratic mayoral primary. In it are no one you would really want as a mayor of the greatest city in the world, New York, and one in particular, who should really be ashamed of himself, demonstrating deviant behavior. That low life is Anthony Weiner. What angers me the most is not that he is of any party affiliation, but that he is been exposed and still he is running for the office of Mayor, and the shocker, he leads all the candidates!

So what am I saying?

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK CITY IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY THAT THEY WOULD SUPPORT A PERVERT?

He has the audacity to run after what he did, and the voters say: “Give him a free pass.” We already saw what happened with OJ Simpson, and I think the country is sinking and sinking fast, that we would allow ourselves for political or racist reasons let things fly.

Now this is not a rant against Democrats so much as against those voters who happen to be Democrats supporting Anthony Weiner.

I believe that you need to have balance in the political sphere, some things you need to be liberal on and some things you need to be conservative on. This is one time that liberalism is taking a back seat. It is times like this that I think we dropped the ball. I only hope the bum doesn’t get elected and disappears from the face of this Earth.
