I heard yesterday on a credible TV station that ¾ of the nation is in agreement with the demonstrations being conducted across the country regarding Police Brutality.
A few years ago a book was written and I believe a
documentary on the GREATEST GENERATION, authored by the great Tom Brokaw of NBC
Nightly News, a highly respected TV journalist. The book targeted my parent’s
generation, the ones that lived through the Great Depression and World War II.
It honored these people who withstood the horror of unemployment, dissension,
and the rigors and dangers of war.

Today’s generation may be on the cusp of greatness. We see
every hour on the TV a crowd of people, whites and blacks, Hispanics, and
Asians, with a common thread, they are Americans, who are angry and protesting
the treatment of their fellow Americans, the ones who are male, black, or
Hispanic, who get stopped by the law and brutalized usually to the point of
death. They all want it to stop! Most of us do. I read an email that someone
leaked on a certain unnamed supporter of a politician who supports the
protestors and the writer of this email revealed all the hatred and ugliness that
still is out there by about, 25% of Americans, stating he would no longer
support the politician because he was sick of the N!&*#’s and their
complaining. This is what still needs to be overcome, this is still the virus
we need to fear as much as the Covid-19 virus. If you disagree with this
assessment, I suggest you take some Lysol in a glass of milk and write to me in
the morning.
But for those of us who may not have seen years ago, this
the advent of a new epiphany of understanding, it bodes well for all of us. What
this does is remove a large part of discrimination, blindness, ugliness, and
hate that exists for centuries from the first slave ship that arrived in
Louisiana so long ago.
We as a people have always been prone to greatness,
correcting ourselves as we exist throughout the centuries as a nation, seeking
civil justice and protecting the freedoms of all men and women. Our
Constitution was written in black and white, colorless and blind, like Lady
Justice, we can keep the blindfold on her, but we are smartly removing it from
ourselves. Maybe now we can eliminate to a great degree the poverty and
discrimination that has plagued our communities into abject despair, free up
the chances for more educated citizens and new cures for diseases and finally remove,
the blindfold of discrimination! Maybe this will be the greatest generation ever!
