It’s getting that time of year in the election cycle. Mr. President starts to campaign for re-election, as do many, many Candidates. Some of these men and women will make promises that no one, including the politicians will recall, and the incumbents have already forgotten.
There will be the usual dirty politics, which means revelations of things past that exposes the bums. There will be howling, screeching, and down right ugliness to supplement the lies. People will vote blindly for the man in their party, not considering the consequences of those votes.
There will be a frenzy of political ads, all promising to: “Put America back to work”, or at least no increase in taxes, or spending, then will re-decorate their offices once elected, and put their brother-in-law to work for the first time in the in-laws life.
You won’t be able to put on the TV or radio, without seeing the same annoying commercials over, and over again, the opponent depicted in grainy black and white, and the candidate in fluid color.
We will hear and read quotes, all taken out of context, all to prove how terrible the opponent really is.
Election day will come, the TV reporters will be in their glory, at least until the next storm or promise of stormy weather comes.
Then the next morning: the shocking news that will take two to three weeks to conclude because one bum won’t concede defeat, one is too close to call and needs a recount, and one still can’t serve because he has six months left on his sentence.
And then finally after a few months in office, if I may quote them:
“I LOOK FORWARD TO MY DAY IN COURT TO PROVE MY INNOCENCE.”
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
